"The Ethel" Community Barge
"The Ethel”, is a wide beam barge, purpose built to provide either day or residential trips to groups of all ages, disabled as well as able-bodied. She operates from Thorne just north of Doncaster, where the trips can provide much more interesting scenery than starting from Sheffield. Crewed mainly by volunteers, there are always plenty of opportunities for more ‘hands’ - young or more mature!
